Guidelines For What To Start When in PNW =)

I came across these guidelines from the West Coast Seeds people. I'd love it if people would comment on how accurate these guidelines are for them and what they think of them! :)

p.s.- also, does anyone know if you can start Armenian cucumbers before June?

WHAT TO DO WHEN

FEBRUARY

- Plant seeds for broad beans and radish. Try peas but you will probably have to re-do this in March. Indoors, start celery, leeks, sweet onions, parsley and peppers.

MARCH

- Plant seeds for pole and bush beans, corn salad (a.k.a. lamb's lettuce), kale and collards, oriental greens, peas, cilantro (under cover) and radish. Indoors, start seeds for broccoli, cabbage, cauliflower, fennel, parsnips, leeks, lettuce, parsley, peppers and tomatoes.

APRIL

- Plant early potatoes and seed for beets, parsnip, radish, peas, spinach, carrots, cilantro, endive, radicchio, kohlrabi, leeks, lettuce, green onions, oriental greens and Swiss chard. Indoors, start cauliflower, eggplant and melons. Broccoli and sweet onions can now be transplanted into the garden after first being hardened off. (This means gradually introducing the seedlings to cooler outdoor temperatures and bright light by moving them outside during the day and back indoors at night or by keeping them in a cold-frame, which can be opened in the day and closed to provide adequate protection at night.

MAY

- Plant seeds for bush beans, beets, corn, kale, broccoli, carrots, cilantro, kohlrabi, leeks, lettuce, green onions, parsnips, oriental greens, spinach, Swiss chard and turnips. Artichoke, cabbage, cauliflower, celery and fennel started indoors can be transplanted.

After May 24, transplant pumpkin, squash and tomatoes into the garden.

JUNE

- Plant beans, beets, broccoli, brussel sprouts, early cabbage, carrots, cilantro, corn, cucumbers, kale, leeks, lettuce, greens onions, parsnips, peas, rutabagas, spinach, Swiss chard and turnips into the garden. Eggplant, melons and peppers started indoors can be transplanted.

JULY

- Plant crops for fall/winter such as endive, lettuce, green onions, kohlrabi, Oriental greens, cress, beets, Swiss chard, brussel sprouts and corn salad.
