Very High Fire Danger For Friday and Saturday

Okiedawn OK Zone 7

FYI--High temperatures, low relative humidities, moderate winds and the abundance of dry and dormant winter vegetation have combined to give us Very High fire danger statewide today.

While the conditions do not quite rise to the level that requires a Fire Weather Watch or Red Flag Fire Warning, they are dangerous nonetheless.

Yesterday, several counties, including McClain and Love counties, had some large wildfires in conditions that were similar to the weather forecast for today and tomorrow.

Stay safe everybody and watch your local neighborhoods for smoke or flames. When fires are reported very quickly to 911 when the fires are still small, the firefighters have a much better chance of getting them put out quickly.

If you are in an area where large wildfires are occurring and there is any chance of evacauations occurring, be sure your local weather radio is turned on so the alert will sound. Some county emergency management officials will ask the NWS to set off a Fire Warning/Evacuation message if local evacuations are needed due to wildfire.

Every one of us thinks such a thing never will happen to us, but history has shown it can occur and it does.
