I was wondering how the clean-up was progressing, but hesitated to ask 'cause I didn't want to "bring you down" if it was going too slowly....or getting monotonous or depressing.

So, is this storm clean-up now your least favorite gardening chore ever, or can you think of something even worse? (How about digging a lily pond by hand...in clay soil....that's a pretty sad and monotonous task, and my least favorite thing I've ever done in the landscape.)

I hope you'll winter sow a few things next week. It is always nice to get a head-start on spring, and it sounds like you could use a little break.

I'll be winter-sowing some flowers and herbs next week and also starting my tomato and pepper seeds indoors under lights.

I am tired of clouds and cold temps. and NEED some sunshine and blue skies....and warmer temperatures!

I hear ya.

I have 30 acres of bottomland hardwoods that are mostly cleared under. I doubt I will be able to get the big limbs removed in order to brush hog this summer to keep it clear. There is only so much you can do in a day with a saw working alone.

Looks like the weather will warm up this weekend enough to get us thinking garden again.

I don't mind cutting wood, it's just the volume of cutting that has me bummed out.

I've actually made the area in my greenhouse that's heated smaller so I have more space to store wood out of the weather. How crazy is that? I don't want to go through the trouble of cutting and stacking and have it rot from the rain before it can be burned. I have a concrete floor dog run that will be filled up next.

30 acres? I hate to hear that. I'm only whining about 4. :-)

No kidding about working alone. My uncle came by Friday with his chainsaw and we got done 3 times what I could have in the time we worked. He took home a load of good firewood and I had one less eye sore on my hands.
