I don't have Minuteman so cannot do a comparison. I do have L. Kaleidescope and there is a big difference in the two. The width of margin is probably comparable but Patriot is a dark green with very white edge - LK is a light to medium green with a lighter edge and the leaf shapes are different. My Patriot is a much larger hosta than LK and both were planted the same year.

I have both...they are real winners. I used to think that Minuteman had a whiter white...crispier. Yet this year, Patriot is better growing...and is a step ahead of Minuteman. Cannot say that the margin is wider on Patriot. They look both the same width.

If you want another opinion, I have both Patriot and Minuteman. The white margin is distinctly wider on Patriot, although the plants are not the same age. Patriot is in its fourth year, Minuteman in its second. I suspect that you may find variation from one locale to another. The older similar hosta is Francee. In my opinion, Patriot is the winner with a richer green, whiter white, and wider margin.

Patriot is my my vote on the crisp white, wider margin. My Patriot is 5 and my favorite next minuteman.
