Wow! all those are nice. I wasn't sure what to expect from the atypicals. Hmmm, I'm not sure if I'd recognize one as atypical or not. But if I see enough, I might learn.

I think this is an interesting thread idea. However, you got me off guard, I don't have any pics as yet regarding 'possible sports' leaf shots.

They are out there, and I'll add to my brain the idea that I should foto-document possible future sports.

Again, thanks for giving me a poke about future shots (photo shots, that is . . .)

40% of the pictures so far show that you have to dig out the good ones. I'm glad I'd cleaned under my nails before shooting.

This is a pic of one of my Francees,which throws this wide white leaf,or leaves,every year. Some of them are too white to survive,so I have never separated it. Phil

Now THAT sure is different Steve. Sure don't see evidence of early damage causing that to happen. I have never witnessed that kind of deformed leaf.

tj I love that leaf. That should be separated if there next year. That would be wonderful to have. I love how the dark green goes straight up that vein.

I'm sorry I have not found a way yet to properly contribute to this obviously popular thread you started.

So often I snip 'atypical' leafs, unless we think it may be a useful, possible sport.

Actually, I don't do this, but my wife does.

I think it's because we have many, on a per/week basis, tours here.

I have NOT, however forgotten this great thread, and should the opportunity to contribute here, will!

As of now, though, all examples I can think of are mostly, perhaps, possible or probable reversions or sports (see recent hot thread about the controversial argument regarding sports vs. reversions, an interesting read!).

Don't know how atipical this is, on Kiwi Full Monte but it looks much different from the rest of the plant.

This leaf is from my Great Expectations. It's the only leaf on the plant with the split center.

That makes it atypical Sandy. Does it look like something you would buy if you saw a hosta like it at a nursery: where all of the leaves were that way? I would.

Thanks for posting it. I've just gone back and looked at everyones posted leafs, and honestly would probably buy every one so far on the above terms. But what the heck; I'm hostaholic! duh!

Frances Williams has gone silly this year. There's an almost solid yellow leaf, one that's yellow with a narrow green center, one with a yellow streak, and one (not shown) that's half and half. She's unusually large, too. Maybe it's the weather.
