Our local hardware store has lots of planting stuff and they store seeds in jars sold by the ounce. Obviously, stuff like mustard greens must be direct sown since the seeds are so tiny. I suspect that only the larger seeds can be presprouted in paper towels. In the summer heat, that seems to be working great for me for later plantings of peppers and squashes. Good luck with thinking ahead so efficiently. As a new gardener,it is almost too much to think about a fall garden when the summer one is so demanding of watering, weeding, fertilizer and heat tolerance.

Just means your plant is happy, as far as I know. It hasn't happened to me, but here are my guesses (and someone will correct me if I'm wrong): The plant will probably not set seed. At some point, the flower spike will shrivel and dry and then you can pull it off and throw it away. The plant may grow a little slower for a little while after this, or might be slightly more prone to bugs or something, just because flowering takes a certain amount of energy, but I'd guess that it's not going to be so dramatic that you'd actually notice, certainly nothing to worry about. The plant itself isn't going to die -- I'm 99+% sure that ti plants aren't among the species that die after flowering. Shouldn't be any special care needed during or after the flower. Medeola virginiana or Indian Cucumber Root

The seedling does look like a Sinningia, but I'm not positive it is S. leucotricha as I haven't grown this particular species from seed. Sinningia leucotricha leaves tend to be grey-ish in color, have smooth edges, and there's generally a long stem holding the crown up above the tuber. I don't see any of those features here, but maybe it's a factor of age.
