Im just taking a stab at this. I'd say that given the appearance of the tree and where it's planted, it was originally the rootstock of a flowering quince (ornamental shrub), which I THINK is often grafted to a pear rootstock. So what you may have is a "wild type" pear tree. At any rate, it's too close to the house and I would move it. It might not be worth the trouble of trying to save it, especially since you are not sure what it is. You might wait a year and see what it looks like in the spring, if it blooms, etc. But it is too close to the house...you'll have trouble with the siding staying damp and if the trunk gets much bigger, you wont be able to get around it to do maintenance.

I would chop it down - because its too close to the house - and install a new tree in a better location.

Its going to be cheaper to install a new tree that it would be to try and relocate an existing tree, that size. (And this existing tree is going to have unbalanced roots because of its location.) IMHO, its not worth saving.

I agree with Joepyeweed - the tree should simply be removed and a new one planted. It really isn't possible to move a tree that large without heavy equipment, and you wouldn't want to use heavy equipment that close to the house.

I can't tell what type of tree it is. Looks like some sort of cherry or perhaps a pear. Regardless, I think it is too close to the house. I would leave at least five feet between the house and any shrub or tree. It will look like way too much space when you first plant them, but in a couple of years you'll be glad you have the room to grow.
