Filling in after wild daisies die off?

I inherited a beautiful, large patch of wild daisies in one of the garden beds of the house we bought last year -- I love when they are in bloom in early summer, but the rest of the summer they look awful. I'd like some suggestions of what/how to plant the area so that when the daisies die I'm not left with a huge patch of brown stalks with nothing else.

(FYI, I'm a newbie so if there is anywhere else I should post instead, please let me know)

Thanks in advance!
