native companions for summer dormants ?

this is a two-part question...

i enjoyed my first garden this year and i'm really happy with how everything has been evolving.... except.... that i guess i didn't plan entirely well for those summer dormant natives. or more correctly, i didn't realize that all of these would go kaputt by summer heat. i'd love to hear others' suggestions for companions that will fill out the space later in the season. i know of the usual suspects of asarum and various ferns, but i'm also looking for other wildflowers. these are the following planting areas that need help....

1. aquilegia canadensis / sanguinaria

2. trilliums

the second part of my post... i had a couple of plants go summer dormant and i'm not sure if it is because they truly are dormant or because it's just the not unusual withering from transplanting to a new garden. nothing that i have read has indicated that they would go dormant. all of these did very well during their blooming period but then disappeared. can anyone tell me if this is normal for these plants?

1. arisaema triphyllum

2. geranium maculactum

thanks!
