Plugs, Bare-root, or Seeds?

I have a good idea of what natives I would like to grow in my yard, but I do not know how I should start them --- seed, plugs, or bare root plants. I live in west central Minnesota, prime prairie land. These are the plants I am interested in growing:

Butterfly weed or other Asclepias varieties

Eupatorium ssp. probably a shorter variety

Solidago rigida

Liatris aspera

Wild bergamot

Lobelia (blue)

Penstemon ssp.

Baptisia australis

There is a native plant nursery near here that sells tiny plugs. Or I could order bare-root plants or seeds from Prairie Moon Nursery, also in MN.

I am not sure I have the patience to wait for seeded plants to flower. However, after reading this forum, I think that Butterfly Weed might be a good candidate for fall seeding.

What are other's experiences with these plant species? Do some lend themselves better to bare root planting? Others to seeds? Or which plugs grow quickly and flower within the first year?

Thanks for any input!
