Grey goldenrod

I have grey goldenrod in my small garden prairie. It seems pretty pernicious and I'm starting to worry. Last year I pulled a bunch to keep it in check. It all came back. Is this plant too aggressive in a prairie planting or does it tend to plays well with others? To me it's not that outstanding of a plant to give it so much real estate. On the other hand, it's doing a good job as a filler plant, keeping weeds from taking root.
