Viburum

Hi all! I have a woodland garden with many types of verbinum. The one I am having trouble with (and I mean trouble) is the arrow wood aka dilatatum. Late spring found them leafless. I couldn't see anything on them. They leafed out until about a week ago the same thing happened........leaves or skeleton of leaves. I just got back from the local agricultural extension and they identified it as verbinum leaf beetle. I checked online and they mention visible bugs, which I do not see. Help?
