Masha, I just saw the heading of your post saying "long" and my heart started beating excitedly. I quickly grabbed a warm cup of coffee (its freezing cold and foggy here in Melbourne)and decided to settle down to enjoy the show. It was as breathtaking as ever. I absolutely love the combination of Sharifa and Ebb and am planning to do it myself. Your WS2K is so beautiful, I wish mine would grow like that. Do you prune it hard every winter? I have pruned mine the last two years, but I wonder if I should leave it as it is this year? Its hardly grown more than a foot and a half. Your Cecile Brunner is magnificent and I love Roseraie de L'Hay is beautiful and I was especially excited to see Christopher Marlowe since I have ordered it too this year. I am not fond of cream roses, but loved Gruss! All the others look wonderful too. You have a lovely garden and thanks for posting the pictures. Sanju

No fertilizer. Welcome to Colorado. IMHO Korean spice viburnum are not appropriate for here unless babied. If you didn't dig a 100.00 hole for a 10.00 plant, you won't have success with V. carlesii here. Entirely possible either the weather or your pruning is affecting the V. x burkwoodii, not the best choice for here either as early bloom can be killed by cold. Both may not be mature yet, with given information impossible to tell you anything else. Maybe pruning. Certainly the climate here will give you only sporadic bloom every third year or so, and one good one every five (notice all the Spiraea 'Bridal Wreath' this year? Didn't know we had so many did you?). All guesses with sparse info given. But fertilizer will do exactly zero for your issues, which for this particular issue is likely the cold. You may want to go over to the RMG forum to see if anyone there has any tips on how to avoid the weather affecting these shrubs or if folks have given up on them. Dan

CLC70- Connie To left of the bird bath I have a bunch of perennial hibiscus and then in front of the birdbath I have some hummingbird salvia and then in front of that is Coneflowers. It looks like they are leaning toward the birdbath but the only one for sure leaning is the hibiscus and you would know the flowers of that one. But the rounded one is coneflower. HTH Gardenweed I can not remember the name os the cana there are also red ones here as well. I bought a pack of mixed seeds from ebay and nother germinated sadly. But I also collect seeds as well as dig up the plants in the late fall. Paula

That's a beautiful viburnum in the above post! I am trying to landscape for wildlife in my yard, and this has been such a useful thread! So far, in my yard, a large holly seems to be the "favorite" of most wildlife. The birds use it for shelter year round, and it comes alive with bees in the spring when it flowers. Much of the recent plantings I have made (I only moved into my current house ~3 years ago) haven't been super succesful in attracting wildlife. I suspect the problem is that my yard is in the midst of a suburban residential area that almost entirely consists of manicured, empty green lawns. Maybe my lone yard, diversely planted as it is becoming, just isn't enough attraction for most wildlife? Birds in particular seem few and far between, though I do notice a variety of bees and other pollinators in the spring. Sadly, my neighbor just cleared out all the undergrowth and brush in a small patch of woods on his property because, as he told me, he was "afraid of snakes." I am worried that the brush pile I am trying to create on my own property will not last long...the folks in this neighborhood like to complain about any landscaping that deviates from the manicured norm. But I am trying! Claire
