Some kind of Lonicera, honeysuckle. Is this a bush or a vine, and did it have flowers on it as well? The only vining honeysuckle I know of offhand with leaves like that is Japanese honeysuckle, Lonicera japonica, a major invasive (and listed as a noxious weed by several states) threatening many areas in the northeastern US. I'm guessing this is one of the bush honeysuckles, though. Some of those are native and some are invasive (the three I'm familiar with from Indiana, L. morrowii, L. tartarica, and L. maackii, are all listed as noxious weeds by several states in New England), so things get more complicated.

It looks like a honeysuckle to me. I tried to ID that one last year. They're just neat, the way the berries are joined.

I believe it's an alien. the native honeysuckles tend to have their opposite leaves joined. What color were the flowers? Natives have red flowers.

Lonicera canadensis, L. dioica, L. flava, L. hirsuta, L. oblongifolia, and L. prolifera are native honeysuckles with yellowish flowers and red fruits. Nathan needs to do some more detective work to determine if his is native or alien.

Lonicera dioica, Lonicera flava, Lonicera hirsuta, and Lonicera prolifera can be ruled out because all would have perfoliate leaves (leaves with their edges joined and the stem passing through the middle of the resulting disc) below the berries. Seems that'd leave Lonicera canadensis and Lonicera oblongifolia as the only native possibilities.

how about lonicera fragrantissima? the fruit appears about the right size and similar to what this shrub produces.

Looks like the buffaloberry I found in Idaho. Different forest (mostly pine here), so who knows.
