Identification - 5' plant yellow flowers

Hi. I have had no luck trying to identify a volunteer plant. I don't know if it is a native plant or not, but I have never seen one in any other garden or in any garden catalog.

It is over 5' tall at this point and continues growing. It is covered with lovely yellow flowers - both the buds and flowers resemble primrose but aren't exactly the same.

The flowers open in the early morning and close by afternoon.

There is a round green main stalk about 1' across at the base with about 20 upward reaching branches - some are 4' long. About 3 feet up are another bunch of branches (12). The leaves on the talk are 6" long, fluttery edges. The leaves grow across from each other, then scattered for a couple of inches then across from each other again.

As the branches grow there are always new buds forming toward the tips and the seed pods of the oldest flowers are about 1" long.
