It is weedy at my relative's house. They pop up in heavily mulched beds. They get ripped out and more appear. So for some, it does act like a nuisance weed. Remy

Yea, sigh, many of the dogs are grazers. One of them chewed my Sterling Silver rose so many times, she caused the bush to revert to a rugosa. Last year it bloomed with small red flowers! I had to fence off my asparagus because the dogs kept digging them up and eating them. They all love fruits and vegetables, and some of them eat flowers, too. I used to allow my hedgehogs some garden time, under supervision so they wouldn't get lost. They'd wander through the strawberry bed taking one bite out of each strawberry they came across. They never ate a whole strawberry. They lost their garden privileges. The long-earred hedgies have really expressive faces. The old black Lab in the photo loved to supervise the hedgehogs for me. This one is peeved about my intrusion with the camera. Lorna

I posted this in the Test Site: Thank you so much, Terramadre; both for the positive identification, the photo's and the information for the "Name That Plant Forum." Attempting to find more information on the Lycoris radiata. What I have read thus far does not identify it as a native plant and have searched several native plant seller's in the area on-line and don't find the Lycoris bulbs. I noticed that one Garden Web Member indicated that she had purchased these bulbs in China. My MIL felt that this is a flower that perhaps someone had discarded. They have owned their property for 50 years but she had never seen this plant before. Their property is somewhat remote and thankfully isn't a dumping ground. They have an extra small two bedroom house on their property that was built for her Mother and later used by her aging sister who was very much into plants of any kind. Possibly it was thrown off into the woods by the sister. Will investigate further in on-line searches and the Garden Web Forum. My MIL is a lovely person but still seems to worry that we suffer under the illusion that there is a valid information available on "that" computer. Much appreciation! Pat
