bottlebrush buckeye broken...

Hi all,

I'm so upset....I recently moved from TN back to IL and had brought a bottlebrush buckeye with me. I had it planted at in my parents garden till I could get it moved here. Before I had a chance to dig it up and bring it here, dad wanted to plant his garden and dug up my plants. He accidently stepped on it and broke the stem off. I've got it planted here anyway, still watering it, hoping it will do something. I went ahead and ordered another one. I got it ealier last week and got it planted. I just went outside to let the dog out, and noticed all these leaves laying around it and getting closer saw that the top 1/4 of the plant, the part with ALL the leaves, is busted. A bird? Will this plant make it, or is it lost? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks,

Terry
