Jeff, here is something that looks kinda like it.
Apple mint

Hi Jeff. Many years ago a neighbor gave me a start of this plant. It spread rapidly and became quite thick becoming a sort of monoculture where it was planted. I began an effort to eradicate it. I have almost accomplished it's destruction but am still seeing shoots every year. It has a yellow bloom in the spring.

I still don't know what it is but have added it to my list of unwanted plants that I planted back when I didn't know what I was doing.

Ack.....oh no....not that indoor plant that becomes a serious invasive. Is that a prayer vine? Does it have roots every 6 inches? Get rid of it as soon as possible.
In the trash...not the yard debris bin.

Now, I'm not sure, but it looks like the same plant that 6 volunteers spent an entire morning trying to eradicate from a local nature park. Someone in a nearby apartment complex threw the plant over the fence into the park.

It spread some 300 sq ft. We had to hand pull all of it, try to save the native plants, and then nail down landscape fabric. It is absolutely essential to avoid having invasives take over the local parks.

I live in the Pacific NW. Our summers are very dry. I would hate to see how fast that plant could take over an area in Maryland. It would spread easily with the mild weather.

Bottom line - mint leaves smell like mint.

Okay, the plant we had trouble with was called a rosary vine or string-of-hearts.
