Question about wild grapes cuttings

I found some wild grapes while walking about a month ago. I tried clipping some of the vines to get them to root. I used some rootone to get them to root to no avail. I even tried placing some in a vase with water like i have seen my aunts do with ivy cuttings, and this also was unsuccessful. I wanted to know does anyone know how to get the vines to root. I would love to grow some.

I forgot to ask does anyone know how to tell what kind of grape this might be? I was told it could be scuppernongs or maybe fox grapes. I was just curious how to identify.

bamboo rabbit, I know of a GA. muscadine winery that use Concord grapes in a mixed wine. the owner gave me two 1gallon plants. I told a friend here in S.C. of my good luck & he told me of Pierces disease. Then was kind enough to give me 3 wine grape vines that have thicker skins, smaller grapes, that are not as sweet as table grape, but will not carry Pierces disease. My Concords are doing fine, but will only last 7 years if I am lucky.

Yes, you can cut out the dead canes to make it easier to pick next year. You can do this anytime after the berries are picked, either this year or next year in early spring. I personally find it a bit easier to wait until the leaves have fallen, either late autumn or first thing in the spring. Any type of all-purpose fertilizer would be fine, something like a 12-12-12 or an organic fertilizer, whatever is your preference.

No idea what nun is. Your pot grown plant go out in Spring into loam and old compost and bit of rotted manure. Water after planting and it will come back . Wild Edric is a hedging rose .If alone as a border plant best give it much room and keep out of shade. Being started in a pot maybe it is root bound. That means the roots are crowded in a tight ball. You need to tease the roots out gentle and spread about in hole prepared so tiny roots can form and older roots break through the soils and firm up. If it is flowering it is telling you its alright so move the plants around it not the rose in that case .Hope you understand dear. Wild Edric can grown to 6 foot high and across .When fully established take cuttings and then plant in sand and grit on plastic coffee cups washed clean and water lightly and leave in time rooted roses can make you a garden hedge. You could try covering part of a runner with dirt and after a while, couple weeks or so cutt it loose from the original vine but leave it in the ground where it is and see what happens. If is fox grapes they do not very well in direct sun they do well in part sun/part shade

I'm pulling wild grape seedlings out of all my gardens at the moment. If you can find a small enough plant, they are very transplantable. But for how to root cuttings, try any of the search links.

Choose wood for cuttings that is at least as big around as your index finger, smaller cuttings don't work as well. Wrap the cuttings in a very slightly damp paper towel then plastic bag and place in the crisper drawer of your frig, let them stay there till callous forms on the cut ends. when callouses form they are ready to root, dip in rootone and place the cuttings vertically (top ends up please). mist regularly and keep potting mix (fluffy and hi in organic matter) moist but not wet till rooting occurs.
