Thanks all! This is growing at my home in West Newbury, MA. I think it's pretty common around here but I never looked closely at the plant before it flowered before. I'll probably let some of it grow if it doesn't interfere with the other plants around it. We bought a new home and are discovering the perennials that came with it as they come up!

There are a bunch of cultivars (and in this winter-worn condition I am not certain that anyone could ID the exact cultivar). To be most effective, they want to be densely massed together rather than dotted around on mulch, and they should have something nearby with contrasting foliage such as a plant with true green or lime green foliage to help them stand out..

should be easy to smell tomato with just a gentle brushing ... btw .. is that city compost or some such? .. if so.. it wouldnt surprise me to have rouge tomato seedlings in it ... ken
