I saw the dreaded cucumber beetle yesterday. Those little b@$t@rd$ love my brugs. They know when you're coming and hide! They killed one of my red brug seedlings last year, before I knew. All that was left was a stick and some leaf stems. They lay tiny orange eggs on underside of leaves. Good luck with your pest problem.

columbine should be near peak.. ignore that.. and i agree with gal ... you have incredible MINOR damage.. short of building a conservatory.. and going operating room sterile and clean.. just enjoy nature for the diversity of things in it ... including the leaf munchers ... the hosta forum peeps have all kinds of remedies on various damage ... visit them.. though i have never heard of cold coffee .. the biggest lesson a newbie should learn in the garden.. is to share it.. learn.. observe.. but rarely is it requisite.. that action has to be taken ... though things get ugly.. RARELY will a bug or two kill things ... yes.. cyclically there are marauding hordes.. and even those dont kill... but MIGHT require some action ... but nothing you show.. really requires much of any reaction... IMHO ... ken

Since I do not like blackeyed peas, I would eat only 2 for luck on New Years day, and only ate those because my mother insisted. She said that when she was "expecting me" she cooked dried black eyed peas often as they were a staple during the post depression years, and that she had to hold her nose while opening the lid to add water because of morning sickness. I still do not care for them, but like crowder and purple hulled ones.

Bleu_Maples, I'm having the same thing with my new bougies (one of them in particular is more delicious than the others for some reason). Been spraying BT once a week and leaves are still disappearing as soon as they sprout. So, you have my empathy! I can't even find any loopers at night - they're so well camoflaged. Took me a long time to find one, and it was only 1/8" long! (hanging from a thread). Argh! I don't have any other suspects though.
