It's a cinquefoil. If the flowers are pale yellow (I couldn't quite tell from the photo), then it's sulfur cinquefoil (Potentilla recta). If they are bright yellow, then I would guess intermediate cinquefoil (Potentilla intermedia). Neither of these is native; they hail from Eurasia.

Thank you janet_e. I think its the sulfur cinquefoil. I've enjoyed reading about the medicinal information surrounding this plant. I wonder if my Grandmother used it. She hailed from Sicily and was always making ointments and teas for what ailed you.
