Hello there, I recently received this plant as a gift for my bday. However, none of my friends who do gardening knows what this plant is called and how to care for it. Just like you I get a lot of compliments for it. I am not into gardening but would love to be able to keep this plant alive as it is unique. Would you be so kind to give me some instructions on how to care for it? All I do right now is water it everyday with a little bit of water. It sits by the window in our dining room. Would really appreciate any tip you can pass on to me :) Thanks in advance!

Hi, I've been a lurking reader of GardenWeb and the tomato forums for a long time(3yrs), but saw this post and wanted to contribute. This is my first year trying Heirloom and OP varieties and soon after planting out, I had some similar symptoms and was having a hard time identifying the problem. I too thought I might have Curly top, but it appears to be more common out West but I'm in Eastern NC, or 2,4-D damage but doubted that. After several days of on and off searching, I happened upon a picture that matched my poor tomato's symptoms and a good description that helped. I've attached the link at bottom to those pics and description. Looking at the Cucumber Mosiac virus a little more, I realized that my cucumbers probably had the virus late last season, and something in my garden had passed it to my new baby tomato plants :( Anyways, I think you'll know if it is a Mosiac virus or Curly top, as small plants are instantly stunted in growth. With 2,4-D the healthy limbs will continue to grow or should recover in 5-10 days. Here is a link that might be useful: Mosiac virus pics and desc.

Thanks for the feedback. I'm curious why you doubt it's a virus. I'm not eager for my plant to have one, mind you, and it would be great if it were true, but what lead you to that doubt? Note that the leaves are curled upward here, and the entire plant is leggy/tangly. The temps have been uncharacteristically low, and relatively windy for mid-summer preceding and during this condition (around 75 with significant winds for the past two weeks). In fact, the plant was thriving the most during the 90 degree days and I've been hoping for a return to see if that would help. The pot is fairly big. It was recommended by the nursery for tomato plants, probably 15-20 gallons.
