My Devil's Bit is several years old, doing very well, but I'd like to enlarge the planting. It looks as if it would be an easy plant to divide by simply cutting into the clump with a sharp spade. Has anyone done it?
Quoting Bill Cullina's book (NEWFS) on Growing and Propagating Native Wildflowers :
Chamaelirium Cuttings/ Division : Healthy older plants will form offsets that can be separated in spring, but I hesitate to divide them as clumps are much more effective in the garden.
Difficult from seed, moderately difficult from division.
