There are several plants growing wild in my garden this year that I can't identify. The FOLIAGE was there last summer, and I thought they were dormant hollyhocks (since they're biennial), and remained evergreen last winter. This year, they are growing (upright), with heart shaped leaves (they started out like hollyhock or mallow). Currently, they are about 3' tall, and have fine white flowers similar to baby's breath at the top. I've left them alone, because they're pretty, but don't know if they're invasive, troublesome or not. Could a mallow/hollyhock revert to something else?

Yikes, sounds like garlic mustard, do the crushed leaves smell slightly of garlic? It is a biennial with rosette of leaves first year, tall plant second year.

Nasty, invasive weed remove ASAP

Thanks, I haven't smelled it yet, but I've been told over the weekend that it's probably one and the same. It did start out last year (that's why I thought they were hollyhocks); then shot up this year! Guess I'll go pull. It's a shame, because in my cottage garden, they look pretty, but I don't want ANY MORE than what's there now. Thank you.

Thanks, Gaalan! I spent hours last night trying to google descriptions of the camellia to figure out what it was so I would know how to care for it but had no luck. Then today I came across this forum. :-) Rhizo_1 - It receives a few hours of afternoon sunlight. The shape of our house protects it from direct sunlight for the most part. It seems to be doing ok. ???Granted, we just moved in about two months ago so we'll see.

I agree. Hardenbergia violacea is tough little Australian native vine that will even flower in the shade. Also comes in white. They look wonderful when the two colours are grown together

Nope not a Lynwood--color was pale yellow and lynwood from what I read maxes out at 8 feet...this one was at least 15-20. Was told by someone at the garden that this tree was only 5 years old! The tree stood by itself..nothing else around it.
