Thomas extolled the Winter Jasmine in his 1957 book, Color in the Winter Garden, illustrated by himself. "...a place should be kept for the yellow winter jasmine, Jasminum nudiflorum. This plant is among the first half-dozen I would put in any garden, if for no other reason than that it provides flowers for the house from October to April regularly and abundantly. Picked in bud they invariably open well and a succession can thereby be maintained. Yellow jasmine is the very centre around which gather all the delights of the temperate world mentioned in these pages. Brought by that great seeker Robert Fortune from China in 1844, it has increased in popularity until it is the most commonly planted of all our winter shrubs. It seems to thrive anywhere, but the longest and best shoots come from a cool north wall. As many as possible of these should be left on the plant; they will provide the best future-flowering shoots and do not look so well in the house as the twiggy, branching pieces. The removal of the latter will provide ideal pruning."

Hi Mike! So sorry to hear about you and your family's health issues. Glad things are better! :) I don't think it smells like urine. Laugh. I got mine from TT however sometimes Kartuz and Pepper's carries it (I think they're currently sold out). Mine was a small plant but they grow fast with lots of sunshine, heat, water and fertilizer. Mine hasn't been a spider mite magnet but insecticidal soap should do the trick if they do become a problem. My brunfelsias haven't been blooming so I've cut them back (B. giantea and 'Isola'). I also repotted 'Isola' into a larger pot and washed off the existing soil around its roots and used a modified gritty mix for the new pot. So far so good! Looking forward to it blooming...maybe by fall? :) Can't believe you have so many citrus trees! -Robert

I haven't, but that's exactly what to do with it , plant it facing south, in the sun, mulch it well. I did that with my Gelsemium sempervirens 'Margarita', which until the past few years, was not proven in zone 6. This year I planted a Trachelospermum that I hope will prove hardy here too.
