trini1, I'm not familiar with that particular Crinum. Could you give further info? I would be very interested in growing it. I have the old pink and white, Milk and Wine Crinum, and the blossoms are totally different. They are hardy to z7a and begin blooming in late June. Rosie

In So Cal, these literally do grow like weeds. Check any drainage ditch and you'll probably find a couple. They are very easy to grow, and despite their potential to be invasive, do look rather lovely (foliage and flowers). Just please keep them away from any sensitive environments, especially since you live in Florida, the invasive species capitol of the US... Also, keep them away from your other potted plants or you may end with more of these than you wanted!

2 years ago my grandmother passed away and her name was Lillie. That's when I began planting lilies in memory of her. I have just as much room on both sides of my house as well. One side gets lots of sun and the other only about 4 hours. I'd like to one day have a display garden of not just daylilies but orientals and asiatics. 5 or 6 years down the road as long as the knees and back hold out. Oh and the pocketbook. I haven't quite planned how I'm going to lay out all the beds, but my husbands only request is that he can get the riding mower between the beds. I am going to expand the single row into at least one more row. Then come out the width of the riding mower and follow the same curve. All my beds are curved for ease of mowing with the rider. I really like the look of your tiers and the layers. My grounds are so flat I'm trying to figure out how I could do some layering. A work in progress that seems like I'll never get finished.

Well thank you again everyone! I'm in Florida and mostly planted foliage that stays colorful year-round. Like I said, my house isn't grand or anything but it was a neglected foreclosure when I bought it. I still need a tree somewhat off to the side but one that will not grow so wide as to block my light in the art room. So far I haven't seen anything that I like. I will post some pictures tonight. Right now I'm doing some stepping stones in the back to mark a path so the guys who mow will stop trampling the things I have planted. Breaks over now and not much light left so gotta go.
