hi terry, i can't confirm the "awful smelling fruit" comment. mine makes quite a few seeds and i have never detected a smell, even after taking the seed from the pulp. i have read that they are dioecious but there are some who seem to challenge that. they are ready when they turn dark blue and begin to wrinkle. they do require a double-dormancy. plant them at that time and perhaps you will see some germination by the second spring. i have a couple of small trees that grew from my tree's seed( i moved them into containers from beneath the tree). i wish i had known - i just drove through your area this weekend. they are beautiful when they get big and have a wonderful fragrance. i posted a picture of my old specimen in the tree forum gallery. they develop a much better form and produce more flowers in sun but will grow in the understory.

Rita, she has a " Classic Edge" look about her. Nice to jump in and know what you like... Celeste, it's really a large bloom and so soft in color. I am watching that one for sure.. Kay, I had some blooms on it earlier but they were so beaten up. I think the color will change a bit.. Debra, that eve enchant kid is a really beautiful flower. This year, the elements weren't kind to it. Darks are bothered more than the lights . The picture wasn't true though, it's much darker than that.. Jean, sorry hun..I love the spidery looking ones. In fact, I love all forms. ( almost) Linda, I have many blooms in the seedlings right now. Some are repeats of course but I waddle up every day to see " what new". Marg, I just do that to keep track of the cross and I know what they are...mostly. The cross is Candied Popcorn Perfection X Be Thine. An unusual combo for sure but I cross what I want, not what is proper. Hahaha! If it's pretty and in good form, I cross it it with something I find that I like. Sometimes it works... Kay, she just looks so soft and delicate. ( The Sab Bau baby). I was happy that the Be Thine kid took on some of her character. Rita, yesterdays looked muted and dull. I'm happt she brightened up a bit! Sarah, the red one is a nice height with an average size bloom also it seems to be heat tolerant. The edge on the Sab Baur one could be a little wider but it seems to set off the eye. Deangreen, that isn't a true color. It really looks muddier in the garden. Julia, I am looking forward to the blooms for tomorrow. I should have several new seedling blooming if the rain doesn't get them.. How is your color Chris? Since I got that one from you, they should be much the same. Mine looks muddy in the garden but the photo looks different. I don't remember if it bloomed last year, I'll have to look. I can tell you that I planted 3 seeds per growing pod and instead of thining out I actually separated them and repotted some did not have the first set of true leaves yet and some had just the first set of true leaves. Now most have first set of leaves and some are starting their second set. I also over wintered 2 of my bhut plants and repotted in Feb 2011 which are the parent plants to my seedlings. Let's us know how it goes!
