Yep, Ken is an experienced Hosta tour host! I remember his former garden from the !999 AHS Convention at Ann Arbor. Looking forward to seeing what he has accomplished at his new digs! No need to rush out and purchase anything new, Ken. I'm sure your garden is quite impressive as is! I was at Cochato this summer and saw that plant. What a beauty. Wish it was in my garden. I would even be happy to have the original "Krugerand" (on my lust list) because I have a thing for the golds. By the way, Cochato Nursery's display gardens are a "must see" for any hostaholic visiting Massachusetts!

I must agree with both Donna and Rosefolly. I am not much of a church-goer but think applause is only appropriate if the church building is being used as a concert/play venue. I'm still not quite at home with the now quite common habit of serving 'refreshments' after a service. I know that many medieval churches over here have no separate facilities for such things (some don't even have a cold water tap let along a church hall for meetings etc) but crumbs in the nave or Coke spilt in the choir-stalls doesn't seem 'quite the thing'. Donna, does the congregation clap after a particularly rousing sermon? I seem to remember seeing on TV that in some US places of worship it is not uncommon to hear "Alleluia" or 'Praise the Lord" during an address from the pulpit. I guess I'm showing both my age and my stiff-upper-lip Englishness . . . and am probably too old to change!

LOL, Debra.....that is the sort of look I rock when I visit Carl Harmon's garden in late July. It always seems to be in the 90's that day and I spend hours meandering around the hot field, getting pollen and purple daylily juice on my clothes and legs. I enjoyed your photos, anyway. I LOVE those birdhouses! Just today, I had to put two baby robins back in the nest. The wind had knocked the nest down and the poor things were on the ground with mama squawking nearby. We have several birdhouses here that are mostly occupied by chickadees. Wish the robins would use birdhouses and not the eaves of the house or the floodlight. I had to climb on a ladder to get the nest back up there. Blue Ridge Gardens looks like heaven. I used to order from Bob when he sold on the Blooming Auction. Some of my healthiest, hugest, and all-round best daylilies came from that garden! About the daylilies.....all are super looking but my favorite is My Pet Dragon and orange is my least favorite color, so that's a compliment! The other I love is Help From Your Friends. Now that's my favorite color!! Oh, and I forgot to mention, that I met Charmaine Rich a few years ago. My hubby and I rode there on our motorcycle. She will always remember us....lol.
