Have your ever divided any muhly's? I'm wondering about the 2 undaunted Muhly's I moved, they looked punk all season like big grasses aways do when you move a mature clump. I'm wondering if I should dig them out and divide them to make smaller plants like those you have up there? Mine originally filled out fairly quickly. I planted them in fall and by the next year they made nice sized blooming plants, then the next year they were 3ft wide which was bigger than HCG had indicated. By the way, they changed the name, they were called 'Autumn Glow' back before HCG closed their local store and quit selling as many natives. Maybe they changed it since they glow in summer, not autumn? I wish they'd go back to selling those hard to find natives like they used to carry. The ones you bought look like 2 year old plants judging by the old growth that was trimmed back at the base or maybe they are divisions from a large plant?

ljpother - People often describe plants on this forum. People are incredibly quick to respond and often ask questions to clarify. Today, I posted a "Plant ID Please" question at 4:19, answers poured in, the plant was identified in a couple of hours. Amazing. The culture of the WS forum is to always help others. Pippi: I harvested two more bowls of seed yesterday (7/23). The rudbeckia are R. hirta 'Rustic Colors' from Swallowtail. I don't see 'Rustic Colors' listed now, maybe they will offer it again in the fall. I WS several other R. hirta varieties - Indian Summer, Cherokee Sunset, Denver Daisy, Goldilocks - and also R. fulgida 'Goldsturm.' (I went a little nuts over ruds this year) The other varieties are growing in areas with more protection - they are still blooming like crazy. I'll get seed from the others when they are ready but don't know if plants grown from that seed will be similar to the parents. Example: Don't know if plants grown from 'Cherokee Sunset' seed will look like my 'Cherokee Sunset' ruds. They may not but I'll WS that seed and keep my fingers crossed. All the rudbeckias are beautiful - despite the awful weather! I have another 350' of driveway bed to plsnt next year so I'm euphoric to get so much seed!

OK, looks like everyone is as busy as I am. Hate to let my sister down, as I said I would check this board every day, but alas, Tomorrow starts two (2) weeks of the state high stakes testing. The pressure and stress is sooooo heartbreaking. I teach 5th grade, I had 2 boys crying on Friday over something really insignificant, but you know it's the pressure of these D**** tests. They are so worried they wont be able to go to middle school with their friends. I've been in meetings all week signing my life away that I wont look at the test, etc. Now I have to turn in a seating chart of my testing environment, signing that they were 3 feet apart and not able to cheat. Sorry for rambling, but I really get angry, our politicians have forgotten these are children and not all children are college material. I'm going to give the next two (2) names, because this will really be a busy week.... first....triciae then... hostabuff thanks for letting me vent, hope everyone has a great week. It is starting to look like spring here, so the next couple of weeks should be great. Patty
