Milkweed seeds

If I were to harvest milkweed seeds that have gone through the winter on the old dried up milkweed stalks, will those seeds be able to be planted immediately indoors to start seedlings, or would I still have to stratify them (cold treatment for many weeks) for them to germinate? I have a whole plastic freezer bag full of seed pods that I have harvested the last few days (first week of March) and I want to start a big patch of milkweed in my butterfly and bee garden. Would appreciate a response on this question ASAP. Thanks. John
