Anyone recognize this plant? Should be native in north and south carolina

Looks like it could be Star of Bethleham, Ornithogalum, to me. Not even close to native if it is. Naturalizes and has a pretty flower but can be a nasty aggressive spp.

It's not Star of Bethlehem....I've battled that. The flower has 6 petals and they have pointed ends.

But I don't know what you do have.

The leaves do closely match on that one. Not exactly a stunning plant, huh? Doesn't ring any bells for anything we might have planted either. I'll watch it and see how it goes. Thanks.

I have the same in my containers, tried to identify it, seems like hairy bittercress but it never grows in rosettes like I see in google search photos. It seems to stay small, only a few (3-4) leaves per stock, grows upwards and if allowed hundreds of little plants come out in the same container. also the color is a bit lighter green. here are some pictures i just took, it’s like this from spring into fall. definetely some type of weed because nothing seems to stop it. I want to confirm if it’s indeed hairy bittercress and not a look alike plant. thank you

Reminds me of venus flytrap, but then you probably would have photographed the leaves rather than the flowers.

I am not sure what it is, but I know its in the rose family. At least that narrows it down a bit.

My first thought was Callery Pear. If it is truly native it may be one of the plums.
Jusu could be a little more generous with the information.
Was it a tree or shrub? Did the flower have an odor? Was it good or bad? Was the plant thorny? What is the date of the pic? What makes you think it is a native?

Any chance of a photo of the foliage? Or a description?
Also a location would help. Wetland, upland, woodlands, meadow. Also, soil type, mesic woodlands, clay, sandy, rocky slopes, etc., would help in ID.
