Nancy, that's the thing; it doesn't look like mites. The leaves aren't deformed at all, just very tight. My Orchard's Bumble Magnet has been this way for a while, as well as Rob's Cloudy Skies. Rob's Cherry Soda is better now that I trashed the plant and have 14 babies. I don't know if it's related or not, but my Amoeba, Winnie the Pooh, Rob's Twinkle Blue, and a noid all at once dissolved into a crowd of suckers. I'll post pics. Daisy, If you have the room you could start stuff for hanging baskets inside. I am going to start my pansies and viola inside but due to lack of space the basket stuff will have to be wintersown. I have several petunias, some lobelia and I saved seed from a plant called trailing snapdragon-I don't know what it's "real" name is but it was very pretty and bloomed all summer long! Last year I was able to overwinter it in the bathroom, but killed it this time around. Ooops!! Good thing I saved that seed! -B

According to the Takii PDF file the Canna Cannova Seed strain has taken over 10 years for development to meet the cooler and shorter growing climate of northern Europe. These cannas should fit well within large areas in the United States. Producing F1 hybrids such as this is expensive and time consuming undertakings. They more importantly offer the consumer virus free cultivars that are difficult to find available from most sources. One’s other option would to be purchasing tissue cultured and virus indexed plugs which are also more expensive and definitely not widely available. Therefore, depending on the source, the price may not be out of line for the product in my opinion. Here in the states, I did find a listing for some of the Cannove series available from Ball Seed Co. Given the time of the year and the fact that this is a new product, the availability may be limited or gone. Takii introduced the Tropical Series of canna several years ago and seed became readily available. Kent
