Thanks for the etsy suggestions...I actually spent (far too much) time browsing etsy for wreaths the other day, but was hesitant to order because, you know, everything looks better in pictures and I was hoping for personal recommendations. I just ordered one from the same artist with the boxwood wreath that Tib mentioned, but a different one...boxwood but with some tiny pink flowers. I love the big tulip one, but I don't think the bright pink/orange would work on my house. I had a terrible experience with a wreath company last year -- I am not 100% sure if I remember the name correctly so I won't mention it here. They sent me a wreath and it was in lousy shape, very skimpy with a couple of branches broken off. I tried emailing and calling them about how to return it, and they never got back to me. Finally I mailed it to them with a note, and the box was returned to me unopened. So frustrating. Now you see why I was hesitant to order another wreath!

Thanks to Blogger Kelly Morisseau, I learned the ideal height for wall ovens for my kitchen is 30" to the bottom of oven (I'm short). I've seen height recommendations for microwaves and counters but I've not seen this type of information for wall ovens. That alone made the site visit worth it. caryscott, I haven't seen Kitchen Makeovers magazine yet. I'll have to keep my eye out for that one. michellemarie and shanghaimom, I use the resource section in the back of magazines, too. It's so great to see something I like, follow the link to see whether it's feasible and what else the source has to offer. I discovered a possible new stain finish for our GO cabinets that way. I'll have to check out the designer you both mentioned. I have spent many hours cruising through the photos in the Photo Gallery at Kitchens.com. Designer name and links are almost always provided so I've been able to hone my taste even more as I pour over the portfolios of designers around the country. Uh, oh, I fear a case of TKO coming on! Here's a page of links to resources for southeastern plants (although some of the links seem to be dead). A good basic wildflower book is Newcomb's Wildflowers, although it's for the northeast so you'll probably see things that aren't included. It's a good place to start, though. A good technical manual for the southeast is Weakley's Flora of the Southern and Southeastern States; it's out of print but you can download a pdf. It's not for beginners and it's not illustrated, but it's complete and you might find it helpful if you've already got an idea of what you're looking at. I've only used it for grasses. (Actually, other people might be interested in this - a hard copy of this book is probably over $100 (and it's out of print) but you can download a free pdf.)
