My Japanese Maple Leaves are turning green

I just recently planted a Japanese Maple. After about 4-5 or weeks or so, the leaves are turning green. My parents tree has always had the red leaves. Why are mine turning green? Is there something I need to add to the soil or what do I do? It is in the sun in a well drained area. We have had a lot of water this spring. I want my red leaves back!
