If you are coming from the North on the beltway, get off exit 9 turn right and cross over the beltway. turn right onto Allentown road

Procede under route 5 (Branch Ave). Turn right onto brinkley road. Procede on to next traffic light. Turn right onto Temple hills rd. Make the 2nd left onto Old temple hills road. I am on the left just past the church parking lot.

If you are coming from the South on the beltway get off exit 4A route 414. Cross over to the 2nd light and turn left onto Brinley road. You will be passing Sharpers florist on the right, Procede to the 4th(I think) light and

turn left onto Temple Hills road (Left turning lane)

and follow last 2 directions above

For Eric and Kariel get to Allentown road the way that is best for you. And follow above directions from beltway North.

I am not sending you directly to Branch Ave as there may be construction at that interchange that may require it to be shut down for the weekend

I shall have over 100 packages of assorted fall bulbs that need to find homes. I went to Am Hort Soc River Farm today to pick them up. We were encouraged to take a whole box, so I filled up my trunk and back seat. , Tulips, Frits. Daffs snow drops, bulb iris and some others from the VAn whatever company that sells bulbs

I am getting things potted up for the swap. I am focusing on bringing a smaller number of larger trades this year. I stopped by a nursery to find some cheap pots and talked them into selling me some of their 6" square pots (probably about 1/2 gallon ones) for $.20 each. Last year Oakland Park had nice 4" ones for $.09 each, but they didn't carry them this year. So far I have rhubarb, chocolate mint, lemon balm, spiderwort, lamb's ear, evening primrose, Golden Tiara hosta, misc. var. hosta, and Michaelinsis daisy potted up into 1/2 gallon or larger pots. I also have quite a few small starts of Penny's Worth daylily, a nice little daylily with yellow flowers. It kind of looks like a miniature version of Happy Returns. I also have plenty of tomatoes. I have about 60 varieties started this year. Some I only have a few of, but many of them I will have extras of to bring to the swap. We will be potting up some other things to bring as well. We usually bring the dogs into Columbus with us when we visit. But I don't see how they will fit in the van with all of the plants. It looks like we will have to leave them with friends for the weekend. We are looking forward to seeing everyone on the 15th. James

Sounds like fun - what book? Do you have a fireplace? We are having a cold north wind, too; only here when we have a cold north wind, it only gets down to 60. You mentioned the weather, and yes, it's been wonderful - exactly the kind of weather I came here for, except it's a little too chilly at night in the winter, but I have a heater that I run when it's too cold. I've been interested in virtual worlds ever since I saw the movie, Tron. Right now my virtual reality worlds include Second Life, OpenSim, and The Sims2, which my granddaughters gave me for Christmas. I'm glad for it as they play it and it will give us more to talk about. It's sort of like an interactive movie. They do things, but the player can influence their choices. The second image is of Cassandra Goth and Peter Halliwell. They moved in together and are having a baby soon. I built and furnished the house they are living in. I love building and creating - virtual 3D art. I've put a copy of the first link below in the useful link box. Tomorrow I'll put up some pics of OpenSim or Second Life. In those I have virtual galleries. I'm still working on art in first life, too. And of course for virtual worlds, there is always meditation and painting :) Cyan Co. who created Uru that I played for several years are releasing the code to the fans, so that will be available again soon, too. At least I'm hoping so. In first life, I'm working on my art and trying to get an exhibit ready for the hospital here and maybe for one of the galleries. I get very tired and sometimes discouraged, but still going :) BJ, I'm glad you like the cards. I'll try to get those up on a site soon so others can see them, too. That's all I can write today, but I'll try to get back more and be more involved again. I work on my eating, too, and maybe will share that. Hi Guys, AMY!!!!!!!! Always a pleasure to have you stop in. I miss you always. I love your work. Glad you are seling cards---at the art center or online? DH will be starting with Family Law, Criminal Law, Wills, Property Disputes, and DUIs. A little of everything, I guess. I hate the criminal and DUI part, but that's exactly why I'm not a lawyer! Well, I have been having a bit of a fun time this weekend. But I miss my Baby V. Had a NICE dinner out with friends last night-the best Chicken Picatta I've had EVER. It is an addicting dish! I had ONE Baileys and coffee and 1/3 of a Bananas Foster, which I only ate (seriously) because the other woman at our table didn't want to eat dessert alone. It was SO fun to have a night out! Then I got to sleep in today. I assisted in 2 short photo shoots and then picked up some of little DD's friends and caught an early showing of Marley and Me. The kids liked it, but what can I say? I'm not a fan of Jennifer Aniston or Owen Wilson. It was nice to sit in the theater and not HAVE to do anything though---GREAT FEELING! -Making a big salad tonight with Romaine, feta, crushed filberts, dried cranberries, and chunks of the refrigerator section Del Monte peaches-in-a-jar and a light homemade dressing. They have NO good produce on this island in winter, but with the refrigerated fruits, and good cheeses (in moderation!), we can still get a good salad going! I went off island yesterday and had 1/2 a Noah's "Everything" bagel--it was a religious experience. Had the other half this afternoon. NHSuzanne~ You sound like you actually might be enjoying THIS snow! I'm with Marci: I'm ready for winter to end anytime now! Stay cozy, girlfriend! Marci: I made the spinach squares a couple of days ago---SO GOOD! Mind sharing your Minestrone recipe with us? Your recipes are dee-lish!

I mix between three . . Broccoli Salad I used craisins(dried cranberries), broc florets, crumbled crispy bacon, sunflwr seeds(last time I used glazed cruchy almonds with great success), granny smith apples(peeled & cubed, tossed in vinegar to prevent browning), and dressing (vinegar, mayo, sugar). Add the bacon and seeds just before serving. I am always asked for the recipe. The other "standard" is my Cowboy Caviar. Basically, an uncooked salsa (tomato, cilantro, onion, garlic, lime, vinegar) then add 1 can each sweet corn, and black beans (both drained). Adjusting the acid (I love zing), and if I know people can take the heat, I used increase that, too! Serve with Tortilla "scoops". And a third . .Fruit salsa. What every fruit and berries and looking good. Usually Strawberries, raspberries, kiwi, granny smiths, 3 tblspn fruit preserves. Slice tortillas with pizza cutter, spray with cooking spray *butter flvr is best* and sprinkle with cinnamon sugar, then toast in 350 oven for about 8-10 minutes (till lightly brn).

How is the trade going to work? Is it going to be like the Washington Gardeners seed exchange where everything gets separated into piles and people file through or will it be more one on one?

more questions :)

shall we bring out stuff pre-bagged? for example i have some seeds stored in "bulk" jars, am i supposed to separate it into individual "servings" or just bring some bags to separate it into?

Last year, we were very informal. People just sort of pawed through piles, grab bags and shoe boxes. Bring a pen and some envelops to split off a packet from bulk seeds.

Mary, I would love some snowdrops.

thanks, Mary. I'll be coming by with a friend, maybe a bit early and leaving maybe a bit early. We want to see a show in Alexandria that starts at 3 PM that afternoon. I'll have some seeds in tow.

The squirrels got all my species tulip bulbs despite Ro-Pel -- did you get any of those, Mary? (species tulips, not squirrels :) )

Also, I brought inside some easy-to-root nonhardy plants like dicliptera suberecta

Lynn, I doubt that the tulips I have are what you want- they are mixed bulbs. but you are welcome to have any that you want

I'm hoping to make it on Sunday. Does anyone need a grow/shop light with plant bulbs? 4 foot, not fancy but works...

Mary, I'd love some frititallaria and snow drops, if you still have any.
