soaking peas

This is something I have never tried before. But I have heard of it. Has anyone ever soaked sweet peas, snap peas or snow peas before planting? If so dose it speed germination? I haven't had many problems with my peas germinating but this year with my fall planting my peas did not germinate. I did the same as I normally do. Added manure, tilled, planted and watered. My peas normaly come up in less then 14 days, they always germinate quicker for my fall planting because its warmer at the time I plant then in the spring. We did not have too much rain. I am not sure what the problem was. I called the seed company and explained it to them. They were kind enough to replace the seeds but at that time I was not sure if I had enough time left to plant and was still not sure if they would germinate, I did plant a few of them just to see what would happen. Wo told the whole story. Anyway has anyone ever soaked peas to speed germination?
