Comments (22)Don't have the pics taken yet for two new hosta just arrived yesterday, which are in this family. Brenda's Beauty and Captain Kirk. Others in the family include: Fortunei Hyacinthina, two plants which look totally diff to me Moved them together so I could monitor their appearance Captain's Adventure Whirlwind Second Wind I'd be interested in seeing some Color Festival hosta if anyone grows it?...See MoreStriptease HVX
Comments (20)Sad but true. I wasn't sure about the first pictures, but that last one clinches it. Some HVX infected plants fight off the effects of the virus much better than others yet other plants show it right away. That's what makes it so risky to keep them around. One plant might show infection in a month, but others might take years, while others can carry HVX without ever showing any outright symptoms. Without testing every single plant it can be impossible to know if it has been moved around or not. The other thing I notice is that this Striptease is surrounded by several of the usual suspects. Sum and Substance, Golden Tiara, and Stiletto are all commonly infected plants too, so it may not have started with Striptease but could have been one of the others :( What you do with it is up to you, but personally I wouldn't keep a sick plant around. I've seen way too many gardens where HVX is accidentally moved around, and who knows what might happen to them in the future should you move or someone inherits your plants later. Sorry, Chris...See MoreHosta of the Day - Risky Business
Comments (10)White Middles . . . IâÂÂm in !!! I donâÂÂt have Risky Business, but I did order White Bikini this year which is almost a perfect look-a-like for Risky Business, IMO. From my research, the only thing I was able to conclude is that RB ends up developing that twist at the end of its leaf where WB does not. It is also said that WB has a slightly thinner middle than RB. I plan on ordering RB as well to grow them both and see for myself. I love the look of the plant and wouldnâÂÂt mind if they end up being look-a-likes. :) Ludi White Bikini . 05/30/2013 P.S. Phil . . . Comments (13)Thank you for the feedback. I think you are right that it doesn't seem to be bleeding from the vein, at least not bleeding on both sides of the vein, so hopefully that is a good sign. It just didn't look right, so I thought I would raise the question. It just seems odd that the variegation isn't more defined. Other than the distorted coloration, the hosta foliage is extremely healthy and there doesn't seem to be any odd puckering or tissue collapse anywhere....See Morembug_gw
