I think I'm counting 19 buds on that head. Be still, my jealous heart. How long have you had them. Could I ask a favour? When the seeds ripen, take some of them back to the area where you found the lily, so that they will still bloom in the wild. And be careful digging the bulbs as L. canadense sometimes will grow sideways underground before shooting up.

Thanks. I can't take much credit, they aparently love our new home. Neither one did much for a few years, only three or so blossoms, but when we moved I dug and took them with the other lilys anyway. We've been here for three years, and they are suddenly beautiful! They each have small stems on the sides too, so next year should be great. At both sites where I dug them, there were several stems with blooms that I left, I wouldn't take the only one. A funny thing, I was at our camp just this weekend and I was out walking with my daughter and came across a field with over twenty stems, all in full bloom right now (it's 60 miles south of the Canadian border, everything blooms late) Beautiful. Of course, I forgot a camera. I'm hoping they will still look good next weekend so I can get a nice shot, I'll post it if I can.

It looks as though you have nice tree cover there. Since L canadense are a woodland lily they would like somewhat shaded moist conditions. Somehow, you've sound a good spot for them, so I think you deserve some credit for it. :)
