Thanks guys, no I did not supercrop. In fact, I did prune off the suckers ... later I found out that I should NOT have done that. It will severely hurt your yield they say. However, the plants are much bigger then the previous photos and are setting fruit quite nicely. Ill try to get some pics posted tonight. Also, my green pepper plants have sprouted, along with a pretty purple pepper plant, and a beefmaster indeterimante tomato plant. My basil is growing great, and I have been topping the basil which is in turn responding nicely and starting to grow "tops". My lettuce is like a wildfire as well .. fun stuff! Now that I got my newbie mistakes out of the way I think Im ready to rock on the next grow ;) I need to take a few clones of these totem hybrids though, I really like them. I think my next grow however, will be an INDETERMINANT cherry type tomato plant, and an indeterminant slicer variety as well, along with a few green peppers, lettuce, and spinach. Then I want to try a blueberry bush and some strawberries. I dont think the blueberries will be any problem but the strawberries are a different matter. In trying to find a continously producing line. The june bearers only fruit once a year, and then theres a seasonal variety that fruit twice a year.... neither will fit my requirements. I think I need to go with a day neutral variety to get a continous fuit production for the life of the plant??

Shrubs n bulbs Are the bulbs in your name light bulbs or flower/vegetable bulbs? : ) Thanks for your response. I am still having a difficult time deciding because this particular dealer offers the 600watt unit with an electronic ballast but the cheaper 400watt is magnetic. Further, the 600 watt systems, whether magnetic or electronic, seem to have a higher light per watts ratio, but there doesn't seem to be as many bulbs available. In particular, I am wondering about the availability of "full spectrum" light bulbs, such as the Philips MasterColor that Mr. Meyer has suggested, in a 600 watt version. In that regard, I am wondering if I might do as well or better buying an MH system instead of a HPS system. But I am also unsure as to whether "full spectrum" light bulbs are available for MH fixtures or how the costs compare with "full spectrum" MHconversion lamps like the Philips. Finally, I wonder if for fruiting of tomatoes and peppers I might do much better with regular HPS than any conversion lamp due to the lower light output of the conversion lamps. I got a pretty good ventilation system so it seems to only raise the temp a few degrees the room is about 120 cubic feet and my vent fan is pushin 100cfm so that keeps it pretty cool in thair i think for the winter i will have a propane heater outside the room by the intake holes this should raise the co2 level as well as heat the air going in.... i think

Keep in mind that 600W HIDs only come in high pressure sodium, not metal halide. You can buy MH conversion bulbs for 600W HPS ballasts, but they're less efficient than the real thing and more expensive. If you don't need higher maximum light levels than you're already getting, another option would be to add another 400W metal halide. To get wider coverage from a single lamp, you'll need to mount the lamp higher than your current one or also get a new reflector designed to maximize coverage area.
