Planting Iris Near Other Plants

Hi!

How close can I plant irises near other plants without everyone invading each others space?

I am planning on planting irises and iris rhizomes along one empty border of this fence. The fence is semi-permanent. There are only 4 fence posts keeping the fence all together, and these posts are imbedded in gravel.

On one side of the fence are salvia, grevillea, yarrow, heuchera, euphorbia, Dusty Miller, Mexican sage, and Joey paws.

Could any of these plants, including the iris, be so invasive as to where they could prevent the rest from growing, and, eventually, I'd end up having just one dominant plant growing in this area? And, if so, would the iris be the plant that could be prevented from growing? If this would be the case, how far should I plant the iris from this fence? As much as possible, I'd love to place my iris along this fence until I hear otherwise.

Thank you for your time and attention to my message!

Sincerely,

Mbluetyphoon
