My guess is the burpee information is for a cooler zone than yours. I pullout out my peas a few weeks back because it was too hot in zone 8. You may want to stick to your successful warm weather crop such as bean, zucchini, and toms. Wait a few month and you can plant peas for fall through spring harvest. I always plant peas in Sept and Oct.

Thank you Tom, for responding! I'll skip the beans then and just go with the sugar snaps. Your bean pods look gorgeous, almost too pretty to eat ;) I ordered sugar snaps, sugar lace II and super sugar snaps from park seed as I couldn't find them locally at the big box stores and had a 10 dollar gift certificate, also got some Swiss chard, bright lights and a packet of Hestia beans and some chocolate cherry seeds, I did grow the cheery tomatoes last year and fell in love with them. This year I'm growing 10 plants of all different kinds, I don't care if I have big yields or not, just playing while I'm learning and I get to try different varieties to keep growing again if I like something a lot. I do grow micro salad greens and love them. I've learned to stagger them by 1 or 2 week intervals to always have enough every day. For spring I am clearing a 25 by 16 area that gets full sun and hope to grow tomatoes, snaps, beans and a few other things. My tomatoes I've learned to grow in containers only but hope the peas and beans and other veggies can go in the ground. I should be ready to turn in compost, potting soil from repotted plants in that area, cover with black plastic until I'm ready to actually plant. Nice weather for 6 months to do a lot!

I just got my peas (and lettuce, spinach, radishes, etc. seeds) out of the fridge. No inoculant - where do you buy it? My great-uncle just soaks his, don't think he adds inoculant. But I'm thinking of starting them. School conference tomorrow, maybe Thurs? All my peas rotted last year - never came up. But half my lettuce rotted too, hope this year is better. Started my tomatoes Monday (a week ago) and they're almost all up, but won't put those out til Memorial Day (*maybe* Mother's Day but we've had late frosts...) so plenty of time for peas. Got some peppers going, but most still hiding -could take another week or 2 for chiles. Then again, it's going to be 80 tomorrow and Thurs - crazy weather! Should I wait til weekend when things cool off to 50's to plant?

Maybe you could put stakes on both sides at each end and attach twine, end to end and use that hold them all up? I don't think it will take too much help to hold them up long enough to get peas from them. My snow peas can get anywhere from 3-5+' tall. Maybe next year, you can make a taller support ahead of time. Good luck!
