In any community of people there will be times we rub one another wrong, but *the garden* is our common link and somehow we muddle through those times to enjoy one
another again, and I hope we do not fall prey to the 'prickles' that keep us from coming together as a community of friends in 'the garden'!

I can only say, pass the good treatment on to the next generation of newbies, because some of us (me) got tired of answering the same questions over and over, and fortunately other people jumped in to take the place. I don't post as much as I did a couple years ago, because I don't have to, except when I have something to add that I notice has been left out. Good to have you here.

it is true sometimes i get sick of the same questions over and over but it is the regulars here that kind of make it like family

and i know that a lot of the other forums have very few posters or a lot of people that are not the nicest

What a lovely post! All I can do is echo what Dr Dave posted - I used to answer a lot of newbie posts, but my life has taken a different turn recently and I have not been posting as often. Thank you so much for the kudos - and please know that I keep all of you close to the heart even when I am not typing here.....

Ok so my wife happend to read this post today... and she is definitely the type to never post but always read. At the end of this post she said,"what the heck... all those other people whos postings we have benefitted from and you just leave them out? just name ken... EO... Cali..and the others? "

So for everyone that has posted more than 5 times within the "Hosta House", I say Thank you as well!! I have definitely taken a lot of Hosta knowledge from all of your words.
I re read this whole thread and realized I might have sounded like I was bashing other forums.... that is definitely not the case. I just think that this is a seperate little niche community and I enjoy it very much. Its like I have replaced reading the newspaper daily.... Instead I read the "hosta house"(thats my new name for us).

Its like this.. why read the newspaper when i can get all the same drama here. Matter of fact its like a soap opera i like instead of those crappy ones on T.V.

A lady post about being a brand new momma to 20 new hosta babies she can't afford , and doesnt have a place for.

Another gentlemen loses his first born Hosta to a deadly virus or illness (insert HVX or nematodes ... which I knew nothing of until you all scared me to death here)

neighbors debate as to whose grown up hosta is the cutest.. and in the end they both compliment each other for being such wonderful parents.....

When in reality we control none of this... we just spend our money, our time, our sweat..... and apparently Ken's tears into making our little peace of earth look more like heaven.......

Right--how much more often can I do that since it's a 'daily' habit--especially in the growing season!!!! Work, take a break,

It's addictive!!! I too watch the 'drama' unfold and sometimes wish a responce in a last post had been answered but I let it pass. I don't always respond after 10 + people have already done so even though I want the poster to know I enjoyed what they said or enjoyed the pictures they shared.

I always feel bad for the person who only gets only 1 or 2 responces and I know I can't help them but would like them to know I read their what they said.

Yes, this form is addictive and I enjoy it so much.

It is a great community here - I have posted on the GardenWeb Hydrangea forum and a few others and frankly it is a little boring over there - no great photography, leave a message and no one replies. I guess what they say about hosta making people friendly is true!

Oh yeah---hosta folk are the nicest and most giving of information based on personal experience,
advice and oftentimes of their own gardens! I'm continually amazed by the generous spirits of our folk!!!

I have to add to this because I've noticed the difference as well, between this forum and a few of the others. You guys aren't condescending. I've seen the "knockouts aren't REAL roses (substitute with Endless Summers not being REAL hydrangeas) so why are YOU here?" type thread on too many boards to count. Here, you never say an undulata isn't good enough. You just say, "Great start, now get some more and show us pics when you do."

I do like enablers. It gives me someone to blame. Thanks for that :)

This all refers to present company, this forum hasn't always been so friendly or gentle. I've watched attacks begin then notice how quickly others will pile on like dogs chasing a cat.

The point is; appreciate the current condition and guard against allowing anyone to change it.

And I agree is is very pleasant now.

I guess that there are much more people that read these posts...and so much less that take the time to write...and that's OK...we all have our individual life to live...
Yet a lot of us are always on watch and willing to help.

E.O., many of us, have found ourselves in the middle of a 'spat' or in disfavor, if posting long enough!
I see it as a 'family thing' where if you hang out with anyone long enough there is bound to be a conflict of
opinion or an 'annoyance' factor raising it's head, or a 'bruising of feelings' on a day when if it were another,
we might not be nearly so sensitive.

The good thing about our *group* (I feel) is when we do clash, it isn't too long before we seem to get past it
and move on with life in the garden!

I'm not a grudge holder, myself--life is too short! I'm willing to move on, and hope for better things for the future!
It's the human-factor we deal with, good and bad!! :o) I find there is something I like and that is positive about
every person that posts regularly! If not--I would not return so often---as I do!;o)

BTW, E.O., I'm not implying YOU are a grudge-holder, I'm just stating my own response to the 'tensions' we've all
experienced on here (well maybe not ALL)! Didn't mean to make it sounds as though it was a personal remark
toward you! :o)
