Cleaning aluminum foil clad gullies
Comments (7)Hey Grizz thanks for the always good tips. So, maybe a giant pipe cleaner (like a mop) to push through for me, like your startup mine still has something unpleasant in it, hey this was supposed to be fun! I waste 10 minutes every day to keep a deck clean or have it rot quickly from the crud that mother nature makes every day. Sometimes I have to take a toothbrush to the grain of the wood or a butter knife to the planks like a dentist because of the organic residue. Even aluminum elsewhere here gets a whitish oxide of some sort on it. The soil is rather acid and there is a big stream 15 feet away complete with ecosystem. If I put lettuce too close, no deer LOL. But a one-ton Manatee flops up and will eat it. It eats like a cow, munching can be heard for at least 50 feet! Thanksfully the 30' ft high muscadine grape tree cover stopped fruiting so the squirrels can stop bombing the deck (garden and all)with all the grapes that shoot out of their skins I was more worried in this situation to know whether small ridges would develop on the aluminum, or if the glue kept it flat on the outside, as the channel aged since everything I put out there turns into a cleaning chore....See MoreCrinkly aluminum foil to keep cat off table?
Comments (15)The cat I have now likes to chew on foil but each is different. My first thought though, is since you don't have problems with it on the table why worry about it until you see if it's an issue? Much also depends on how the cat is trained, its curiosity and such. I use a squirt gun when he goes near where he shouldn't and a harsh NO! or two with it, he gets the idea. After a couple squirts the "NO!" is all that's needed. Another option is put a container of vinegar next to it A flat container with plastic on top with holes poked so the smell will permeate a bit is usually all that's needed. Haven't found a cat yet who likes the smell of vinegar and it will remove odors in the room at the same time....See MoreAluminum foil fused to glass cook top!!!!
Comments (2)http://myceramicglasscooktop.com/melted-aluminum-foil-on-my-cooktop/ "I just used “the works”, hydrochloric acid. I laid newspaper patch on the stove top and let the acid sit for over an hour . It removed 99 percent, I might go for that last little speck a little later on. This acid won’t eat glass. I am pleased with the results" Looks like several folks have used The Works toilet bowl cleaner to handle this. I've never heard of that happening before though, so glad you posted it. Having a glasstop stove is new for me, and I find it to be a PITA to keep clean, but I do like the way it looks. So I will be wary of aluminum foil on it, in the future....See MoreCornbread melts aluminum foil?
Comments (16)Along w/ acidic things like buttermilk being a factor, baking powder also contains an acid (tartaric), doesn't it? Check the box ingredients list: I've a hunch there might be citric acid in there too. I also use either waxed paper or parchment to create a barrier between foods and foil when wrapping or covering things for storage, but only if the foil will be in direct contact w/ those foods....See Moredcarch7 d c f l a s h 7 @ y a h o o . c o m
