Hi have never had much luck with callas. Do fine the first year then decline when summer comes see beautiful ones in zones 8/9 in florida There are several different families of callas and have been hyvbridized so really tough to figure the ancestry. You should have good luck with them since you avoid the high summer temps and cold winter temps . i can't grow "ANYTHING except palm trees in full sun Most write ups on plants are for temperate areas ?? I love aroids but for me anthuriums do mauch better than callas Good luck gary

Susi, I think you're thinking of JL Hudson, Seedsmen. They're a very good and interesting company that specialize in hard to find and open pollinated seeds. Very fast service and good germination rates. The downside is that a lot of the plants are warm weather plants or better started with offsets or plants. They're based out of La Honda, CA. With Gilbert Wilds. It seems the rule comes down to: you pretty much can't go wrong with their peonies-esp. on sale, hostas and daylilies are cheap but has some reliability issues, everything else is why bother. John Scheeper or Brent and Becky Bulbs will offer comparable or lower prices during their sales, for better varieties and near ironclad quality. Wal-mart or Home Depot or Costco will have lilies in spring for less than $1/ each. (be sure to buy them ASAP, sitting in hot stores do not agree with lily bulbs) $1/each is definitely not too good to be true unless they're selling Silk Road or Scheherazade at that price. I don't know about Germania or Ednie's or AMG, don't they deal largely with growers? I'd love to buy from them, but without enough land or budget, I'll be shopping at Costco in the foreseeable future.
