Do you know if you have the common chickweed or the mouse ear chickweed? The common chickweed is considered a winter annual and the mouse ear(Very hairy leaves) is considered a perennial, but I have heard it can act as a winter annual in Oklahoma sometimes. But, being a perennial may explain why it still came up even though you put a pre emergent down. It may have stopped more seeds from germinating though. It seems like I have seen the weed germinate in early spring, die out in the summer, and then germinate again in the fall and then be winter killed or stay green through the winter. About the time you were re-seeding should have been the time to be putting down the Barricade, but we know you cannot do that and re-seed at the same time. Oct-Nov is about the time chickweed germinates. I would try a test patch as philes and morph mention above and you could put down some more Barricade as long as your TTTF is established. If there are any more seeds, it will keep them from germinating. It may also keep crabgrass from germinating early next spring.

Naw. You can plainly see that the support for the rifle comes to a pointy angle. And you KNOW he co-op manager would go nuts over anything pointy in the garden. Remember how he insisted I make the very dangerous Adirondack fencing safe last year? Bring this pointy thang into the garden and he'd go nuts! Besides, the bullets might hit the building and take out chunks of the brick. Then our maintenance charges would go up again for an "assessment". Oh, and the "landscape workers" Mow & Blow might trip over the rifle, or the kid, and then our insurance costs would go up. Better to have my garden decimated by squirrels than attempt a lasting solution. I'm still rootin' for the redtail hawks that live at the end of the block on a college campus.

Roger No problem, I had glanced at the thread and took it to say a seedling, the reason I was vague about what the photo was because I really wasn't sure what I was looking at. I'm sure like you it did seem fun that there would be a BME with coloration something like the photo. Simply stated I'm here to have fun, learn or teach. Anytime you can shed light on what I report it is welcome. I may disagree with someone's information but seldom will that be personal based on the belief that everyone has a right to their own opinion but not their own facts. I'm sure you noticed that I never gave specific information except, "how about a seedling" which was even a bit more than I felt I knew? Again thank you for you response.

Actually, As @hostasmith correctly stated, GSME IS the result of pairing BME and ADG....therefore a hybrid...a seedling from The Land of the Giants (Miller & Meyer). The list Ken referred to that was in a 2012 thread...D.Rawson list on Mouse series, sports, and sports of sports.... is quite extensive! In answer to your question, the only seedling I'll have (in May) will be Giantland Sunny Mouse Ears. I'll be happy to post a pic of it after I pick it up. I do recall from last year that someone posted their photo of GSME but unfortunately, I can't recall who that was...a female forum member? I do have Blue Mouse Ears and Holy Mouse Ears and love them to bits! Two of the Cutest mini hostas I have...out of 16 or so ;-) Jo
