Don't laugh, but I don't know!

The bulbs that develop after an iris has bloomed, are they

anything that reproduces? I ordered some very beautiful

iris and the blooms were fantastic. These formed very large bulbs after blooming. I have only grown noids in the past and most are found everywhere around here. I have a few that friends have given me, but none have produced these bulbs. I believe these are just characteristic of the iris, but don't want to make a mistake and destroy something that may produce.

Thanks for any help.
