Endless Summer experiment continues

Happy Thanksgiving all. I bought an ES in 2004...potted it up and it did beautifully all season, right up until early November (granted we had a warm Fall in 2004).

I took the pot and placed it in our vegetable garden to overwinter it...I mulched around the pot etc. In the Spring, my dear husband, in an attempt to help the plant along, pruned the plant down to about 12 inches. The bush did not return to it's previous glory...I had a few blooms but nothing like I had the first year.

I decided to transplant the bush out of the pot and into a good spot in the garden this Fall. The root ball is slightly above ground. We had a very wet season and I just went outside and covered the plant with leaves.

My experiment continues...I love this hydrangea and sincerely hope that it will come back and bloom as nicely as it did the first year. After years of gardening however, I realize that what I want is not necessarily what I get. But I remain eternally optimistic too.

I'd love to hear the results of your ES plantings as well.

Ciao,

OITGAD
