If you want the largest bulbs possible, don't clip any green. If you want green onion then harvest them early. If you want to maximize space utilization then plant them as close together as you wish since bulb size doesn't matter to you for these. You can always take any planting and designate a number of them for clipping greens as needed and pulling for green onions when desired.

Sorry for not explaining it carefully enough. It is said that you can take the store bought onions, cut off the green, plant the root, grow another green AND THEN PULL THE WHOLE PLANT and cut off the green and plant the root. Repeatedly. don't understand what part "pulling the plant" has in all this. The sources (mainly "survival folks" seem to like pulling plants instead of cutting greens off of already planted plants

Are you talking about Egyptian Walking Onions, or, as my mother used to call them, "Winter Onions"? If so, I could help you out with this but would have to mail them as I'm in NE Oklahoma. I don't need neither as I am about to harvest coriander myself and have a yearlong green onion and garlic chive patches (live in so.cal), but can send you some carrot (scarlet nantes) and romaine lettuce seeds.
