njmomma, it looks as though you and your Mom spent some quality time together. i think that's a wonderful thing to do. Mostly, my children aren't interested in flowers of any kind except 2 daughters who live in Mo. One in NE and the other in the SW. The ones that are closer just tolerate my gardens. So, I hopeyou treasure the time spent with your Mom. Now, the dls aren't half bad..in fact the are second only to the trip. I'm glad you had so much fun together...Ellie

I can't decide where to put her just yet... So I placed her by U. Albomarginata for now. She'll get the most direct morning and early afternoon sun there right now. But once Albomarginata unfurls, she'll overwhelm her, so I will have to move her before then. I'll decide on a good place later. Probably in front by Whee and Minuteman and Orange Marmalade, I am thinking.

Thanks for the comments, everyone. Regarding the snail, part of gardening for me is enjoying nature. I'd be fine with some slugs, but I'm not fine with ten thousand slugs, which is why I hunt and kill them. Last night I killed some real huge ones. This spring has been very long and wet in my area, and the slugs are loving it. BTW, I did take several pictures of the snail on non-hosta plants. I'll add a couple of the more interesting ones to the end of this thread when I get home from work. Regarding my white hosta section, I find that the whites clash with creams and yellows, so I keep them seperate. The "white garden", as I call it, is still a work in progress. I think I have exceeded my hosta budget for the year, but I do want to get some more green/white hosta for this area. I'll post a pic of the entire area later on. The sapling anchoring this section is an Eastern Redbud, which I planted last year and love. There are enormous maples about 20 feet away, which drop thousands of seeds all over my yard. Every seed is fertile. Every seed hatches into vile maple spawn. Regarding my "Night Before Christmas", I hadn't even considered that it was mislabeled. I bought it from a nursery and it had the grower's Night Before Christmas label on it. I doubt that it's LS Dividing Line, because the white on these leaves emergepure white, not the yellow-fading-into-white of LS Dividing Line. But it does look like Risky Business. It's still just one eye, and I'm sure it was a tissue culture. I'll make note of this plant and check it out more closely next year, when it's more mature.

Good morning everyone! Aaahhhh Louie! Where can I begin? Since his arrival he has knocked over just about everything. Eaten 1 of our snakes (now, I can't confirm he killed it, but I did see him munching on it yesterday...can I say eeeewwwwww) And, he has single handedly mowed down almost all the flowers of my floating hearts. I did see him taking down my water celery last night. I want to be upset with him, but, I just can't. He's so little. Maybe a foot long. I told the kids he's like having another toddler running around. You just have to fix everything after he's finished with it. Bunzy (our paint turtle) and her two new paint turtle friends who showed up a few weeks ago, Bubba and Penelope (the kids named them, lol) all seem to be getting along just fine with each other. They were the only one's I was worried about. I'm going to try to get some pictures of him tonight. Last night I was feeding the fish and watching the turtles come up and eat the food. I was to zoned in on watching them that I started to get that weird feeling like I was being watched. I turn my head and there is LOUIE about 2 feet away from my feet munching away in the water. He is NOT afraid of people, lol! Sheri, LOL,I have no clue where he came from? We are close to the Seneca River. I say close, maybe a mile away, and our neighbors have ponds in their pastures. I don't know?? I can't imagine something so little traveling so far? Shirley, our "flying dinosaurs" have been making their nightly appearance as well. The herons aren't afraid of us either! The kids run at them yelling, they just walk to the other side of the pond. I put a couple of shepherds hooks down there with garden flags thinking moving things blowing around might scare them...nope. Hubby got me 2 beautiful heron statues last year for Christmas to scare them away. They stand right next to them, lol. The iris' did have a great spring! I did have some problems with rot afterward. I don't know if it was the crazy cold we had or what? I have a few die off completely. :( The ones that survived are multiplying like crazy. Your daylilies are so gorgeous! How large is Big Bird?
