Pandora's Box leaves reverting...

into all green on one plant (the other, about 5 years old, is doing great). I dug up the reverting one and removed the green eyes and planted them elsewhere. As PB is a sport of Baby Bunting, can I assume this is now a BB hosta? I have one, and the two plants look very similar. Also dug up Chickadee which was reverting, the green leaves look like Invincible. Striptease began reverting several years ago but I haven't yet divided it. So, does a variegated sport become its "parent" when it reverts? Anyone else having issues with these hostas?

its a bluish plant.. and its baby bunting .... as you note

there is a green plant name for chickadee.. but i cant think of it right now.. go to the library... to chickadee.. then to hugo's database.. and look for the green sport ...

as soon as i hit send it will come to mind.. lol ..

i dont think you want a 50 page lecture on sporting and reverting .... my simple way of thinking about it ....

if that makes sense .... beyond that general idea.. its all very scientific.. and frankly will make you eye glaze over.. and then you will fall asleep for two hours.. and when you awake ... the scientist will still be explaining it .... but you will have had a good nap .. and remember just as much as if you stayed awake .... lol

its basically a graduate level study of plant genetics.. blah.. blah.. blah .... but if someone wants to try ... give it a go .. i need the sleep .. lol ...

i am just having fun.. i have a lot of respect for the folks who know this stuff ... and are willing to take the time to share the info ...

A nit picking point of no real value is; I think the taxonomist rule is that it is a new sport to be considered unique. Now for hosta people it doesnÂt matter much and if it is close enough, or even fairly close then we should or maybe need to consider it "reverting back to what is old" to avoid more named varieties.

With conifers we name plants that are the same in most respects except grows smaller or larger.

net cub, Mine are situated in quite a lot of sun, dappled shade midday from a young Mountain Ash, but morning and afternoon sun. When I first put them there they fried a bit. Now I am careful to give extra water in hot weather and they have settled in some so they look good all summer. They did well with half day morning only sun before I moved them also and I didn't have to do as much extra watering. I think the key might be that they are in a raised bed. Only 4-6 inches, but it guarantees good drainage. Hope you love yours too. Happy Planting Beverly

when i say a plant is carp .. i presume.. that is just a challenge .. like throwing down the gauntlet.. because you will all want to prove that you can do it better than me .. been there.. lived that .. lol ... but mostly.. its simply to make peeps understand.. and not feel guilty.. or a loss.. if they fail.. to grow one of the hard ones to perfection ... and if you note.. not unlike GE.. all the peeps with supreme plants and pix.. are z5 WI and MN ... frankly.. as to its growing habit.. its just a mini GE ... lol .. and you should know my thoughts on that one ... now.. the line has been drawn.. go prove me wrong ... and yes.. the potting makes sense.. i had frankly suspected.. this one.. does not like sand ... ken

I saw Creeping Jenny that grew under 40 feet of landscape fabric at a garden center to come up through a little hole by a post.
